BOSKALIS arrives at RAK Maritime City

“Phoenix 1” berths at the new Boskalis jetty at RAK Maritime City. She arrived on the semi- submersible heavy load carrier, “Xiang Yun Kou”, on Sunday, 01 July 2012.
“Phoenix 1” is a heavy-duty, rock cutting, stationary dredger, GRT 4,347 tonnes and LOA 132.3 metres. She operates in coastal waters up to 30 miles offshore and can dredge up to a depth of 31.5 metres.
Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., the latest major client at RAK Maritime City Free Zone, has leased 75,000 sqm of waterfront land, including an exclusive 200 metre private jetty. Boskalis is a leading global services provider operating in the dredging and earthmoving, maritime infrastructure and maritime services sectors. The company has been involved with many reclamation projects for industry and housing in the Arabian Gulf. Major projects include West Bay in Qatar, Lulu Island in Abu Dhabi and more recently residential and tourist development for the Palm Island in Dubai and for Amwaj Island and Durrat in Bahrain.
RAK Maritime City is Ras Al Khaimah’s latest maritime industrial free zone. Occupying an area of eight million square metres, RAKMC includes a harbour basin of 820,000 square metres with five kilometres of new quay wall, providing tenants with private and exclusive use jetties.
